Boat Jumbles are large marine markets run by a number organisers throughout the country. at a boat jumble you would expect to find a vast range of new and second hand items related to boating, fishing and watersports including:

The shows typically consist of a main core of traders who are often much more competitively priced than smaller chandleries, and at a typical Boat Jumble (and all of Compass Events' shows) there is a marine car boot section where private individuals from the local area can sell unwanted bits and pieces. They are also great places to get ideas and information for those customers new to all things nautical. At most events you will find some of the bigger name chandleries and traders - Jimmy Green Marine, Compass Marine, Ensign Fishing Tackle & Nautequip Marine Supplies to name a few, as well as national distributors & manufacturers who use Boat Jumbles to offer ex catalogue stock and factory seconds cheaply.

If you have a small boat to sell or are looking for one to buy a Boat Jumble is the ideal place. Most Compass shows have between 6 & 12 boats brought along for sale and for sellers it is a great way to reach a large number of people and let them know about your boat - many boats are sold after the event to people who have seen the boat at the Jumble.

As with any show of this type you should follow a few basic rules when buying;

1. If you are buying something of value always get the vendor's contact details, phone number and, if buying from a car booter, the car registration number.

2. when buying engines or generators always try to see them working, especially if they are second hand.

3. If the trader has a brochure or flier pick it up so that you have contact and product details if you realise you want something later on or you need to change something.

4. With electronics make sure there is a box and instructions.

5. A few Boat Jumbles have indoor sections but most are outside so always have wet weather gear in the car. No organiser can guarantee the weather...not even Compass Events!
